Estate Valuations & Pricing Systems, Inc. is the exclusive provider of historical securities evaluations for estate tax verification to the Internal Revenue Service, through our EstateVal software. EVP has been the IRS's vendor since 1996.

While there is plenty of information about our applications and services elsewhere on this site -- FAQs, Tutorials, upgrades -- this page is dedicated to specific information about how the IRS uses EstateVal.

Most importantly, you should know that EstateVal can be put into "IRS Mode." This will allow you to enter values from the taxpayers' return into the program (along with CUSIP and shares data), and let it flag any differences on the report. To do this, load EstateVal and select Tools > Options > Standard and set "IRS Mode" to "Yes." Click "OK" and EstateVal will expand to include space for the return's principal and accrual values.

The report produced when EstateVal is in IRS Mode is different than the standard, too.

The numbers in the first column are the prices (principal on top, accrual on the bottom) produced by EstateVal and reflect the true value of the portfolio, based on our data. The second column is the values that were entered by the taxpayer on the return. The third column is the difference between the two. By entering the return values into EstateVal, you can quickly and easily see not only if a filing was over- or under-paid but for which securities the problem exists.

Other questions about the software can be answered by our Support Department, at (818) 313-6300 and Support. Please feel free to get in contact with us.

In addition to help with the software, EVP Systems is also available to answer any questions you might have about our calculation methodology or how we've interpreted the tax code. We'll be happy to do research on any security, too, or provide over-the-phone prices if you don't have a computer. Basically, if there's any way we can help make your job easier, we'll do our best to help. The IRS has been a loyal customer for six years, and we intend to be just as loyal to you.

Again, if you have any questions or comments about our software, our service or if we can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to get in touch. We'll help in any way we can.
