If you are a subscriber of Fast-Tax FPS (706 and Fiduciary Accounting Software) software package, and use EstateVal as your source for security valuations, the EstateVal/Fast-Tax FPS interface can help eliminate unnecessary manual entry of data between the software packages. The user can choose to either start from Fast-Tax FPS or from EstateVal (for Date of Death only). Below are a few simple steps:
From EstateVal to Fast-Tax FPS
First, you'll need to configure the export file format in EstateVal. Go to Tools : Options : Export and set the following:
Type: Fast-Tax FPS
Path: [Export file destination]
Now that EstateVal is configured, evaluate the portfolio as usual and export the file. To export the evaluated file, simply click on File : Export : From EstateVal : Date of Death. You will then be prompted to type in an export file name. If done correctly, EstateVal will indicate that the "The portfolio has been exported."
Now that the file has been exported from EstateVal, you are ready to import. Go to the Fast-Tax FPS program and open the client you are working on. Go to File : Import : EVP and a box will appear which will ask you to enter the date of death file you exported from EstateVal. Browse and look for the file. Once you found the file, select the Schedule and click Next. The list of assets will be displayed. Here you can Select ALL, Select NONE or manually select and unselect an item. When ready, click Import. A message "Import complete" will appear. Hit Alt-F9 to update and click on the schedule at the bottom of your screen to view the imported assets.
From FastTax-FPS to EstateVal
First, you'll need to create a client in Fast-Tax FPS and enter your asset information. Once assets are entered, you are ready to value. Click Edit on the menu bar and select Asset Values then Securities Pricing. A box will appear where you can click Set Valuation Service, choose EVP and enter your EstateVal program's path. Choose your report type under Values and enter the Valuation Date. You can select some or all of the securities to send for valuation. After making your selection, click Get Values.
