ONESOURCE FPS Tutorial

If you are a subscriber to Thomson Reuters’ ONESOURCE FPS (706 and Fiduciary Accounting Software) software package, and use EstateVal as your source for security valuations, the EstateVal/ONESOURCE interface can help eliminate unnecessary manual entry of data between the two packages.

EstateVal to ONESOURCE FPS

To send evaluation data from EstateVal to ONESOURCE FPS, you’ll need to first configure the export file format. In EstateVal, select Tools → Options… → Export and set the Type field to “ONESOURCE” and the Path field to the folder where you want the data sent.

Now that EstateVal is configured, evaluate the portfolio as usual, and then select File → Export → From EstateVal… → Date of Death. You will then be prompted to enter an export file name; do so and click OK. EstateVal will then write the data and show an alert that “The portfolio has been exported.”

Now that the data has been exported from EstateVal, you are ready to import it into ONESOURCE FPS. Run ONESOURCE and open the client you are working on. Select File → Import → EVP and a dialog box will appear that asks you to select the filename you exported from EstateVal. Once you’ve picked the file, select the schedule and click Next.

Now, a list of assets will be displayed. Here you can Select ALL, Select NONE, or manually select and unselect individual items. When your selections are complete, click Import. A message “Import complete” will appear. Hit Alt+F9 to update the list, and click on the schedule at the bottom of your screen to view the imported assets.

Note: This method of data transfer only works for Date of Death evaluations. In order to transfer Alternate Date valuations, you need to start in ONESOURCE, as described below.

ONESOURCE FPS to EstateVal

To use EstateVal to gather security pricing directly from a portfolio on ONESOURCE, first you’ll need to create a client in ONESOURCE FPS and enter your asset information.

Once assets are entered, select Edit → Asset Values → Securities Pricing. In the dialog box that appears, click Set Evaluation Service, select EVP, and enter the path were EstateVal is installed.

Now, select the report type under Values and enter the Valuation Date. Select some or all of the securities to send to EstateVal for pricing, and then click Get Values. ONESOURCE FPS will then automatically run EstateVal, which will price your securities, and send the data back to ONESOURCE FPS.

For ONESOURCE FPS support, please contact Thomson Reuters at 1 (800) 327-8829, options 1, 2.
