Help: Help → Training Mode

When Training Mode is enabled (via Help → Training Mode), all of EstateVal’s functions behave as normal (with a few exceptions, cited below), except that all evaluations and research queries return invented data, and no charges are made against your account. Training Mode designed to let you familiarize yourself with all aspects of the software before running it “for real.”

To prevent this invented data from being used in real-world situations, portfolios created when EstateVal is in Training Mode cannot be loaded into the software when it is normal mode, and vice versa. All Training Mode data is only compatible with Training Mode.

Further, when Training Mode is turned on, the background of the main screen is changed to a yellow stripe that says “Training Mode” and all reports, billing records, and holdings printouts have a header that says they consist of training data and should not be used. Printouts and PDFs also have a watermark shown underneath the data.

Also, when the program is in Training Mode, data cannot be exported (as there’s no way to watermark it, or prevent it from being imported into other software as real data accidentally), and billing records are not written to disk (as there is no actual billing). Other than this, the program behaves exactly as it would for real use.

To exist Training Mode and return to normal, simply uncheck Help → Training Mode.
